Happy First Day of School to our children, parents, teachers, staff and Cheshunt community! We hope you all had a lovely summer holiday and we’re excited to be back at Burleigh School now in September. Please join us in specifically welcoming our new Reception class students and parents as they embark on a new journey here at our school.

First FABS meeting in person and digitally

Our first FABS meeting of the year will be Tuesday September 16th in person at 9am at Burleigh School, Infant Hall. We will also be hosting a digital online meeting via Google Meet on the same day in the evening at 8:30pm – the link to join that meeting is: https://meet.google.com/nzo-xtkn-ega The formal agenda for that meeting will be published shortly but this is a great opportunity to:

  1. Share your thoughts and feedback on FABS events from last year with the committee
  2. Discuss how we can continue to create wonderful experiences and events for the children of Burleigh School in the future
  3. Explore new fundraising activities/ tactics you’d like to see happen
  4. Sign up for your preference of volunteer jobs and shifts for these planned events
  5. Learn about the committee roles and organizational planning from the trustees of the Friendly Association of Burleigh School as a registered charity

Event Calendar 2025/2026

Our current event calendar is now available online here and is now available via a public Google calendar here as well. Please note that dates may be subject to change and the best way to stay on top of our calendar is to join our FABS WhatsApp Community here.

Volunteer Shifts Open – Sign up now

You can now sign up to volunteer for our events this year here: https://volunteersignup.org/43Y7T

Volunteers are needed for the following events so far:

  • Assisting with Sibling Photos organization – Thursday October 16th from 7:30am – 9am
  • Selling hot drinks and concessions at Fireworks Night on Friday November 7th from 6pm – 8pm – your family will receive free entrance as a result
  • Chaperoning the School Disco – Friday November 14th – there are three separate shifts between 1:30pm and 7:30pm to sign up for for Years 1 – 6
  • Running games and stalls at a Christmas Fair – Friday November 28th – we are currently planning for two shifts at the moment. Families that volunteer will receive free admission for the volunteer and one other adult and child.
  • Chaperoning the Summer Disco – Friday June 5th – there are three separate shifts from 1:30pm – 7:30pm and includes all students from Reception through to Year 6
  • Running games and stalls and ensuring safety of all attendees at the Summer Fete – Friday July 3rd – we are currently planning for two shifts at the moment from 2:30pm – 6:30pm. Families that volunteer will receive free admission for the volunteer and one other adult and child.

We need volunteers to make these events happen to ensure the safety of all children and attendees. If we don’t have enough parent volunteers then we may need to pay more money to external suppliers (and in turn raise prices to participate) or just cancel events, which detracts from our mission of creating wonderful experiences for our kids at Burleigh. We are publishing this calendar early so that we can all plan accordingly. Please sign up to volunteer here: https://volunteersignup.org/43Y7T

If you have any questions, please ask the committee via our WhatsApp Community – Questions for FABS group.

Secondhand Uniform Online Shop

Friendly reminder our secondhand uniform online shop is here: https://fabsburleigh.sumupstore.com/category/secondhand-uniform

After you place an order online, you will receive an email within a few days of when your order will then be available to pick up from the front reception desk at the main entrance of the school. If you placed your order over the summer they will be available to pick up by Monday September 8th. All inventory is updated online on the website – if you don’t see an item in your preferred size we don’t have it. The website is the best place to see all items and place your orders.

If you have school uniform items – branded with the Burleigh logo particularly but also non-branded items (trousers, dresses) – please donate them back to the school by dropping them off at reception. We can then make them available for other families and continue saving money and the environment together.
